This would be my very first post!! *cold and sweating palms*
I'm supposed to do some assignments but oh well tomorrow is day off so I'd upload some queuing photo folders to facebook instead. With my extreme slow internet, I've got plenty of time to do something else. (Not that I'm complaining, I'm totally ok with that slow internet, :b)
And um. While screenshoting the photos (that's my way of reducing the image sizes), I found these photos! Yey. These are the photos taken like 2 weeks ago when my parents came visiting us to attend my sister's master degree graduation ceremony. They've been to Sydney for several times, so we didn't need to take them to Opera House and other famous places. And I insisted they've got to go to my favorite spot instead :b.
That is..... *drum roll*
Artarmon!!! :D
Why I love this place, I don't know. It was last year when I first came here, and the atmosphere of the place is just so relaxing! Once you step out of the train you could see the train 'station' is actually just a station of 2 platforms and surrounded by lots, lots of trees and reserve area. And beneath the train station there is this little round area of 2 Japanese restaurants, 3 Thai restos, 1 Japanese second hand book shop, 2 Japanese groceries (!!), 1 Dutch resto, and umm.. (Did I miss anything?). I think that's it.
This is Furu Hon-Ya (古本屋) or second-hand book store. Here you could find loads of Japanese comics, recipe books, novels, CDs, DVDs, etc in reasonably cheap prices (around 1 - 10 bucks). There are also some comics in English sold for 5 bucks.
And this is Anegawa Groceries, there are two Japanese grocers in Artarmon, but I usually go to this one which is on the left-hand from the train station tunnel, just because Anegawa sells sakuramochi I love :D.
The range of products is quite broad, (well maybe not really if compared to Tokyo Mart in Northbridge). It sells seasonings, many KitKat different flavors, Fuji Bakery cakes and buns, organic veggies, some Japanese ceramics, etc etc. Oh and the old lady working there is very nice :).
The reasons why I go to Artarmon quite randomly after I finish classes at Billy Blue.
Yes, yes, sakura mochis!! One mochi costs AUD 2.20 (10 cent cheaper than Zumbo's macaroon), but it's worth it, the rice cake is very very chewy, soft, and the tsubu-an (red bean paste) sweetness is just right, not to mention the aroma of the cherry blossom you get from the salted sakura leaves (the leaves are edible, but make sure you don't eat too much since it contains Coumarin (?).
These are kuromame daifuku (黒豆大福) - black bean mochi filled with anko, red bean paste, and um.. still not sure about that on the right side, but it's basically a very thin crisp wafer (made of rice flour) and also filled with anko, I don't know what they use, but the anko smells very good!
Sushiya's Eel sushi rolls
This is the tunnel I've been telling you about :)
